The Center for Help for Anxiety & Agoraphobia through New Growth Experiences
(or CHAANGE for short)
For over 40 years, CHAANGE has been helping people learn the truth about their anxiety, how to unlearn destructive habits and relearn productive healthy behaviors with their groundbreaking 16 week at-home program.
Founded by anxiety sufferers and run entirely by former CHAANGE participants, we know not just what you're going through, but the steps you'll need to take as you complete your healing journey!
The History of CHAANGE
CHAANGE was founded in 1979 by Ann Seagrave, Faison Covington, and their therapist Lou Owensby L.C.S.W.
Seagrave and Covington, having recovered from their own severe anxiety conditions, realized that their experiences could be helpful to others. Together they developed the CHAANGE center to help individuals, by providing tools and resources to assist patients in learning new coping skills, attitudes, and behaviors to alter their limiting anxiety and/or phobias.
Their book, Free From Fears, details their respective journeys and describes the therapeutic process of the CHAANGE Anxiety Treatment Program, which has provided hope and freedom to hundreds of thousands of anxiety sufferers.
In 2019, Dr. Charles Barr took over as director of CHAANGE, Inc. and the CHAANGE Anxiety Treatment Program.

This is one of the most rewarding things I do. I love walking with people as they walk their way out of the fear of fearful feelings. I tell people that if what they feel is anything like what I felt in my panic, it is truly suffering and we must do everything we can to get them free.”
In 2019, Dr. Charles Barr, took over as owner and director of CHAANGE, Inc. and the CHAANGE Anxiety Treatment Program and brought the program online for the first time.
Dr. Barr can be heard each week on the Life Free of Anxiety podcast with his co-host and former patient, Erica.
